Skill Level - Advanced Beginner
This sweater is aimed at those who may never have crocheted a sweater before, or have and were not happy with the fit. It is intentionally designed with an easy stitch repeat and construction that you can try on from the very first stages and adjust to your body type and style. You can make this sweater more fitted or oversized. The body has no shaping and so I recommend if you are very curvy to aim for a loose fit.
The sweater is made in two halves that are then seamed together. We begin with the cuffs, then works in the round on the sleeves. You will learn how to create a seamless underarm and shoulder section, and then start working on the back panels. At this point we join the halves to one piece and start working on the front panels. The last steps are adding edgings, so many possibilities! You will have a finished sweater that fits you in no time!
The stitch pattern uses foundation chains, slip stitches, single crochet and double crochet.
Yarn:
You can use whichever yarn you want! I recommend a 3 (DK/light) or 4 (medium/aran) weight yarn.
The amount needed to complete a sweater greatly depends on the size and style you chose (length and width can be adjusted, so a XL oversized longer sweater will need more yarn than XL that is cropped and more fitted).
Here are the amounts I used to give you an idea for a M sized sweater-
Golden sweater made with a thick 4 weight- Macaron by Ice Yarns- 550gr/1100m
Coral Sweater made with 3 weight yarn- Fluffina by Junghans Wolle- 350gr/1260m
Colorful Sweater made with DK yarn (3 strands for most of the sweater and 2 for parts of it)- 500gr/1500m
Mauve Sweater made with 3 weight yarn- Fluffy Day by Hobbii- 330gr/950m
Hooks:
The pattern uses a smaller hook for the ribbing and a larger hook for the body. At the beginning we make a swatch to find the best hook size for you. If you are using 3/4 weight yarn you will need hooks that range in size from 3.5mm to 7mm but please keep in mind that every crocheter is different and you may need smaller/larger hooks for best results.
You will also need stitch markers.
If you are ready to start making sweaters that fit you and are up for experimenting, gaining confidence and understanding of how to get a great fit, let's get crocheting!
***No refunds will be issued for this pattern if you think you are buying a new hand made sweater for 9$.
